Trap

From Fish On Wiki

Traps are placeable items that accumulate loot idly on Crew Islands. The loot includes trap fish, trap critters, trap garbage, Crate Keys, and Unappraised Treasure. Traps have upgrades, purchased with in-game money, that improve their performance.

Traps can be crafted from Fine Netting and Lumber.

Fishing Trap crafting recipe

A crew's maximum number of traps that can be placed at one time is determined by the current crew member limit, capped at eight.

A Trap's GUI

Traps can be picked up and placed down again at any time, even if they are broken or they have loot inside.

Proximity Allocation

Traps cannot be placed too close to other traps unless its Proximity Limit is upgraded. At level 1, there is a 2x2 radius restriction.

Proximity Allocation menu

Storage

Traps will accumulate loot over time which will be stored by the trap. At level 1, traps have 4 slots of storage, and this can be upgraded up to 27 slots.

Storage menu

Repairing & Durability

Traps lose durability over time, regardless of whether players are at the crew island or not. If a trap's durability reaches zero, it will stop accumulating loot, and its storage cannot be collected. The trap will not break.

Repairing a trap always costs $5000, regardless of its durability.

The GUI for upgrading Traps

Storage increases the amount of item slots in the trap.

Proximity decreases the minimum distance between placed traps.

Efficiency increases the rate of item production for the trap.

Trash Reduction decreases the amount of garbage that the trap produces.

Scale increases the size of the fish that are collected in the trap.

Luck improves the rarity of the fish and critters that are collected in the trap.

Discovery increases the chance of accumulating treasure in the trap.

Durability decreases the rate of decay of trap durability.

Replication increases the chances of additional drops in the trap.

Replication Upgrade Table

Every item has an individual min and max amount of that item which can be generated, when the amount of an item you receive is being decided, the game will generate the minimum amount then make max-min attempts to add 1 additional item every attempt.

The chance for an additional item attempt to succeed is based on your replication level such that you have a replication level + 4% chance for an additional item every attempt meaning mathematically you gain 1% more of the difference between the minimum and maximum for every upgrade.
