This location has long been shaped by pirates, shipwrecks, and marine legends. The stories of the sea, passed down for centuries, make its waters
more mysterious than ever.

Key West’s their native tribes fished here long before cuban fishermen
they established their fishing camps in the 1700'. In the 1800's, pirates salvaged cargo from lost ships. Around the 1930s deep-sea fishing sports were popularized, and this remains a tradition that continues to this day. Today, Key West remains a vital fishing hub, fishing under the Florida Keys National Marine to protect its waters.
