Murray River
Murray River is the 4th unlockable location of FishOnMC. The Murray-Darling river system is the longest in Australia. It flows through New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia, shaping the land and its people for thousands of years.
Real Life History
The Murray River has been an important location to the local communities for ages, providing a large number of Murray cods, perch, and crayfish.
Fishing in the Murray River has been rooted in the local culture with its close communities, which rely on the fishermen for their needs.
The best catches were sold or traded for other supplies, which reinforced the river's crucial role for their needs and traditions. However, overfishing after the European explorations in the 1800s almost led to the extinction of the Murray cods.
