Real Life History

In Amazon River, fish have been the single most important food source during the history of the Amazon Basin. The fish has reached up to 1 million tons per year in Brazil, this is about half the country's their fish production and
supports around 200 thousand jobs. Being the most important source of food, fishing tribes used a wide variety of fishing tools to secure their catches like nets, harpoons and bow and arrows. When technological advancement were made, the gillnets became the new go-to fishing tool and is still used to this day.

Today, fish are still the most crucial source for the Amazonian locals and they heavily rely on their fishermen.
