Shards

Shards are a crafting component used to craft and upgrade various items. There are currently two types: Armor shards and variant shards.

These can be used to craft and upgrade armor sets, and are specific to each climate. The recipes are the same as vanilla, requiring 19 shards for a full set. Armor shards come from a few different sources. The most basic is as a rare drop when fishing, with a base chance of 1/50 that can be increased with Prospect. Contests also reward shards for their respective climate to the top 3. First awards 6, second awards 3, third awards 2. The most effective way of gathering shards is from hard Quests, which reward 1-3 per completion.

These are currently used for Artisan crafting and pet item recipes. A single shard is guaranteed to drop whenever a variant fish is caught.
